THANK YOU VERY MUCH…….

“Bowdon Festival would like to say a HUGE thank you to Bowdon Parish for all their support in staging the 2017 Festival. We have been helped in so many ways – groups have made alternative arrangements so that we can occupy the Church and Parish Centre for the duration of the Festival and so many people volunteered to be stewards or help in the Choir Café. We are very grateful for the support and the Festival could not have taken take place without them.”

ANOTHER TERRIFIC FESTIVAL

This year, almost 600 performers took part in 77 classes in 20 sessions over the four days, making the Festival not only a terrific event once again but also a real community effort.  Your efforts helped to make the event a success and we would like to share some of the unsolicited comments we have received this year from parents and adjudicators:

“We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with you at the Festival.  It has given our son a lot of confidence now, as he rarely gets the chance to sing alone in front of an audience.”

“So well organised.”

“What a lovely, friendly festival.”

“The feedback from the adjudicator was so helpful.”

“Thank you for being so welcoming this weekend. My husband and I were impressed by the lovely music we heard and our daughter was encouraged by the comments given to her by the adjudicators.”

From Jackie Martindale, the NW Regional Representative of the British and International Federation of Festivals:  “All the members of your team whom I met made me feel really welcome.”

“You have a very competent team of stewards and those who worked with me worked so efficiently, allowing me to get on with the task of adjudicating.  Everything was really well organised.”

“Wonderful carrot cake!”

NOW THE PLANNING STARTS FOR 2018 – AFTER A WELL EARNED BREAK OF COURSE…..

About Us

From small beginnings in 2013, Bowdon Festival has grown into a major arts event in Trafford and North Cheshire. We are a registered charity and are run entirely by volunteers.

Our principal activity is Bowdon Youth Festival, held on the first weekend of February each year.

“Congratulations! I have received great feedback from parents and children. The Festival is just going from strength to strength.”

The Bowdon Youth Festival provides an opportunity for young people still at school to perform music, speech and drama, supported by eminent and experienced Adjudicators and Accompanists. In a supportive environment, young people can experience solo and group public performance, building confidence and expertise in their chosen area. We provide classes in Voice, Strings, Piano, Organ, Woodwind and Brass, Speech, Drama and for Choirs.

During the year, we present a series of fundraising events, such as concerts. These are run by our wonderful band of volunteers and, together with the support of our patrons and sponsors, enable us to present the Bowdon Youth Festival.

We also enjoy and very much appreciate the ongoing support of the PCC of St Mary’s Bowdon. The Church has a long history of service to the local community and manifests its support for the arts locally through its support of Bowdon Festival. Our Volunteers

We are very fortunate to have an amazing team of volunteers, who give their time and skills. We also have a lot of fun! Some give a few hours over the Youth Festival weekend or when we run fundraising events, others help in the preparation and some commit serious amounts of time as members of the Organising Committee.
